If you’re wondering how to love yourself again, here are some intentional steps to guide your journey. These are principles I’ve applied in my own life, and they can work for you too:

1. Grow Your Relationship with God

Start with the One who created you. You can’t learn how to love yourself again without first learning how deeply God loves you. Spend time in prayer and the Word. Let God show you who you truly are—His beloved, chosen child.

2. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

You were never meant to be anyone else. You were fearfully and wonderfully made. Focus on who God created you to be.

3. Recognize Your Strengths

Write down what you’re good at. What comes naturally to you? God placed those strengths in you for a reason.

4. Acknowledge Your Flaws and Mistakes

Everyone has them. Your flaws do not disqualify you from purpose—they prepare you to serve in it. Sometimes, our greatest ministry comes from our most painful moments.

5. See the Positive in Things

Every challenge can teach you something. Learning how to love yourself again includes looking for lessons in your life experiences.

6. Be Kind to Yourself

You deserve kindness, especially from yourself. Practice compassion, even in your failures.

Are the people around you building you up or tearing you down? Protect your peace by setting boundaries with toxic people.

Start a journal of things you’re thankful for about yourself. Make gratitude a daily habit.

11. Acknowledge Your Feelings

Feel what you need to feel—but don’t let those emotions define you. Feelings are real, but they aren’t always truth.
